Building Relationships
Relationships are a healthy exchange of dialogue, knowledge, comfort, and kindness. Often they can feel powerful, mutually beneficial, and supportive. Sometimes they feel exhausted, depleted, and dry. The question I often ask myself is if the present relationship, be it business, friendship or pleasure is in a season of drought, steady rain, or disrepair. The first person I analyze is me. How can I be better? How can I listen more intently, give grace when needed, and preserve this gift of friendship? I've learned that my givings have nothing to do with anyone else's. I've learned that when I was "I and Me" centered, I didn't have awareness of someone else's needs or desires. I recently heard a quote that resonated, " people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." I let that sink in. It reminded me to make sure I pour into relationships that I desire to grow and release the ones God has shown me no longer serve me. I challenge you to do the same.
